Time stopped.
The bear froze.
The forest was silent.
As a bright light shone upon the man, a voice came out of
the sky: "This

"As you wish." replied God.
The light went out.

And then the bear dropped his right paw, brought both paws
together and
bowed his head and spoke:
"Lord, bless this food, which I am about to receive from
thy bounty

Kathy, God is just and fair, but he is not going to fill his heavens full of non-believers...or heaven would become what?... earth? God gives many chances for us to become believers. Regardless, it was a joke. .and I am quite sure God would not mind:)

When reading this parable some questions came to my mind. First of all, it is the threat of God he posed when he told the atheist to become a christian and in return to get help from Him or just to say no and remain an atheist with the consequence of getting no help. I think that God will never help someone who is in trouble, only under the condition that he will become a believer in God. I think God will help someone because He is the loving, merciful and almighty God. He has always given us the free decision to believe or not. In my opinion it would convey a better image of God if He would say to the atheist: “I will help you in any case, if you remain an atheist or become a christian. That is your free decision!”.
